Gloria Diaz belittling Cebuanos

After the Miss Universe 2010 I never expect Gloria Diaz 1969 crowned Ms. Universe says, “Kasi, when you think about a Cebuana can hardly speak english or tagalog, maybe she should say it in bisaya”. Many cebuanos think nga gi underestimate ra jud niya ang mga bisaya, to think cebuanos can speak english fluently. One of the reasons why most of the call centers have put up their offices here in Cebu its because they have seen us can speak like the natives.

Karun sa facebook ug uban pang mga social networking sites, flooding negative comments and reactions about what she have said like stoning her to death. I have also reposted the video from youtube during her interview with ABSCBN. No matter how you are going to analyze and view it several times, the comment was really and insult to Cebuanos.

Though, yesterday, she clarified the statement during her interview:

“Let me clarify once and for all. This is what I said, ‘People should have the right to say or to answer, not people, beauty contestants, to answer in whatever language they want to say it in. If they’re Cebuanos, they can say it in Cebuano.’ I did not say that they (Cebuanos) can’t speak English”

Siguro, she never had time to review what she have said previously. Pero if ako ang pasulti-on, she owe us an apology.
